Parliament passes controversial NHI Bill
The National Assembly has passed the controversial National Health Insurance (NHI) Bill paving the way for “universal healthcare” in South Africa.
On Tuesday, 205 MPs voted in favour of the NHI Bill while 125 voted against it.
All 200 ANC MPs voted in favour of the Bill. The DA’s 71 MPs voted against the Bill. None of the lawmakers abstained from voting.
The NHI Bill proposes a withering away of medical schemes over time as they will not be allowed to insure or reimburse members for services offered by the NHI
Now that it is passed, the NHI Bill must be processed by the National Council of Provinces. This will involve provincial public hearings.

It's seldom that the Police is commended for exemplary duties. I want to express my sincere gratitude to the members of the eThekweni District unrest task team for their outshining performance. Mr Shan Dwarika, a senior lecturer of Verulam went missing on the 28th May 2023. Many unbearable and painful days past until it was confirmed that he was kidnapped. Given the fact that no ransom demands were made, we suspected the worst and prayed for the best. A few days later two suspects were arrested and detained, but our dear uncle remained unfound and the suspects were on the brink of being released due to no or lack of evidence. Almost a week after his disappearance we sought the assistance of Brigadier V.J Cele of the eThekweni District unrest task team. He led us to Captain R Naidoo and Warrant Officer K. Rajah whom sparked the investigation with a team of Detectives. 12 hours later the lifeless body of my uncle was found brutally murdered in the Inanda area. The members never gave up on the investigation. They continued working to find the remaining suspects who literally committed the murder. A few days later they had made A final break through and arrested the remaining 3 suspects whom were my uncle's murderers. The members remained out of the lime light without any glorification. I personally want to express my sincere gratitude to these members exemplary duties and bringing closure to the families horrored experience. Although we lost our loved one, the members of the task team had made it possible for Mr Shan Dwarika's soul to rest in peace.

Durban Metro Police Service Drug Team planned to execute a Search Warrant in the South Beach Point Area and Phoenix. The Team recieved information that the Target was enroute to Phoenix.
Our team immediately proceeded to Phoenix and stopped the vehicle. 2 Suspects (Indian males age 18 and 68) were in Possession of Narcotics.
The suspects were found in possession of pure cocaine powder; Cocaine and Crack Cocaine with an estimated street value of R 112 000. 00.
Both Suspects were processed at Phoenix South African Police Service station.
